Simple but sweet!

A lifetime of beads

My fascination with beads started at age 8. The morning after Halloween on my way to school I saw something sparkling prettily on the ground. Picking it up I found it was the most beautiful strand of Victorian black hollow glass beads. This sparked the creative instinct and it is now 50 years later and I can still feel that pull. The beauty of each stone, bead and embellishment and the way they can be used to adorn things absolutely fascinates me! I was fortunate to be instinctively creative and shortly after the Halloween find I started teaching my self bead work. At this time there were no bead stores and no internet and so it was a long (but, delightful) road to learning and establishing my own style. I spent 25 years creating and selling at 'art and wine' type festivals developing a following. In 2001 I was sharing a studio space in a retail 'old town' area in Niles California. The studio slowly evolved into a successful bead store. We moved into a larger retail space a few years later. Through the creation of Kiowa Rose Beads I met many wonderful and inspiring people. It was a time of my life that I truly cherish!! In 2012 we moved to Oregon where I planned to dedicate myself fully to bead work. I opened my Etsy shop in 2012 and closed the store in Niles in 2013. It has been a wonderful journey and I still wake up every morning ready to create!! I welcome you all into my world.
